The Secret to Stronger Leadership? Dare to Be Silly
Dale Sidebottom

I'll never forget standing in front of a room full of leaders during a workshop, balancing a spoon on my nose.

At first, there were polite smiles and a few stifled laughs. Then, as I wobbled and the spoon clattered to the floor, people relaxed. Laughter rippled through the room, not at me but with me. The energy changed, and suddenly, we weren't just a group of professionals. We were humans, sharing a moment of joy and connection.

That's the magic of allowing ourselves to be silly.

In leadership and parenting, playfulness builds bridges that control and perfection never can. This week, rediscover the powerful bonds that come when you let go and let joy lead. Let's dive in!

Daily Mission Cards

How often do you rush through your day without pausing just to enjoy the moment? We get so caught up in tasks that we forget the joy of doing something purely for fun.

Today’s mission is to be a little silly: draw a funny picture or write the most ridiculous poem you can think of, then send it as a handwritten card or letter to someone you care about.

This isn’t about creating a masterpiece but letting go of seriousness and making someone’s day a little brighter.

Happy Face Mean Face

One of the hardest things to balance in leadership or parenting is knowing when to guide and when to let go. Play offers a perfect middle ground, and this week’s game proves it.

Happy Face, Mean Face is a lively, laugh-out-loud activity that gives participants a structured space to express themselves. Players face off in pairs, jumping, spinning, pulling silly faces, and racing to tag each other.

The spontaneity and structure strengthen confidence and connection along the way.

Inspiring 2 Days at Belgrave South Primary

We wrapped up two inspiring days at Belgrave South Primary, where we ran our Next Generation Leadership program with the amazing Grade 5 and 6 students. Together, we explored how they can connect as a team and leave a positive legacy before heading into secondary school.

A massive thank you to the entire Belgrave South community. Working with all the students has been an absolute privilege. Your energy, kindness, and openness made this an unforgettable experience!
